Ice

I don't think there was ever a better winter to have worked on a quilt called Ice.

In case you were wondering what ice crystals look like really close up, and I mean really close up, they are six-sided perfect hexagons.  After slipping on the ice the other day, I kind of know what I'm talking about.  I came face-to-face with quite a few of them.

Inspiration for this quilt was everywhere.

But my real inspiration was the Ice Bucket Challenge from last summer.  This quilt is a very small thank you to all the people who participated in this worldwide effort and generously donated $115 million to find the cure for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis or Lou Gehrig's disease.  I'm donating Ice to a fundraiser founded by my nephew which is held each year in memory of my brother-in-law, Ed, who had ALS.

Ice is going to another home to keep somebody warm this winter and for all the winters to come.
